Worthington Parish Council is inviting residents to share their views on the operating hours of street lighting within the parish.
At present, street lights are switched off at midnight. The Council would like to understand whether residents are happy with the current arrangements or would prefer changes to be made.
Three options are being considered:
- Keep the current arrangements – continue switching off street lights at midnight.
- Leave street lights on throughout the night – providing lighting during the hours of darkness.
- Change the operating hours – introduce different switching times to better meet residents’ needs.
The Council recognises that residents may have different priorities, including personal safety, energy consumption, environmental impact and the availability of lighting during the night.
We would like to hear your views.
Please select your preferred option using the form below. You can also leave comments or suggest alternative operating hours.
The consultation is anonymous, and no name or email address is required. Responses will help inform the Council’s consideration of future street-lighting arrangements.
Consultation closing date: 5/12/2026
Please submit only one response per person. The results of this consultation will help inform the Council’s decision and will not, in themselves, determine the outcome.
